Meet our new Assistant Director, Cherie Pickett!

About Cherie:

Born in New Jersey and raised in Orlando, Florida, Cherie’s interest in fashion began in her early teens when she began to deconstruct her father’s denim jeans and use them to create her own handcrafted bags. Cherie attended the International Academy of Design and Technology, where she gained her bachelors degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising. While completing her studies, it became clear to her that she had an ability to analyze an individual and create an “ideal look” that truly complemented that person’s size, shape, and coloring. Thus, her dreams of becoming a professional stylist were born.

She moved to New York City and interned at an online fashion blog called Modelinia. Cherie later returned back to Orlando and began interning with local photographers, working on various children’s photo shoots, including some that were published in Babiekins and La Petite magazines. Her desire to gain knowledge about another aspect of the fashion industry - the world of modeling, led her to become an instructor for the Barbizon School in Maitland, FL. She instructed young ladies between the ages of 10-18 about industry standards in the world of acting and modeling, as well as poise and character. Cherie found this to be an extremely rewarding job but understood she would have much greater career opportunities in a bigger city, where the fashion industry was more prominent.

Upon her arrival in Miami, she got a job working as a production assistant for an event production company, where she had a chance to work on the coordination and production of costumes and customized theme decorations for large music festivals, parties and corporate events. In her new role as Assistant Director for Vizcaya Swimwear, she has the opportunity to demonstrate all her accumulated knowledge and skills – from design and construction, to marketing and promotion, and most importantly working with our models for runway shows, calendars, and public appearances. Cherie’s goal is to use her sense of style and Latin flair to help Vizcaya Swimwear become the leading luxury swimwear line in the US!
